I own up to everything I do....but why just bend over and pay a ticket?
It looks bad on your record and you pay out the ### for insurance for 3 years..
It is JUST a speeding ticket! Geeze!

Some people could lighten up just a bit!

Wanna bet? Not going to win the Grand Prix or anything like that but my 29 year old 4 Runner gets up and moves pretty good. It does have the V6 instead of the 4 banger though. Heck, it has a nice radio in it and I don't even lock it anymore. No one wants to break into the rust bucket.

6 pages of replies after only 1 day for a dumb speeding ticket. Good grief. The holier than thous must have come out of the woodwork. Haven't read all the replies nor will I.

I used to be with TVC. All they do is find you legal representation. Since you said you were in your 4 wheeler, I'm going to assume you were close to home when you got tagged. My advice is to ask around, look around the internet for lawyer types in the area where you got nailed.

    LOL

There are a few self righteous holier than thou folks voicing their opinions.

Basically the thread is split down the middle. The holy holiers say you should just accept your 'punishment' for speeding and pay the ticket and deal with the points, insurance premiums etc etc,.. because thats what they would do.

We are not accepting responsibility and denying we did anything wrong if we pay for an attorney and pay additional fines/costs in order to get the points reduced or dismissed. We shouldnt do that,.. we are in denial and should give up our rights because driving over the posted speed limit is such an atrocity.

Thats pretty much what I got out of it.

How is anyone here not owning up to speeding or breaking the law?

I speed,.. and if I get caught I pay the consequences. End of story.

Because I elect to use the resources available within the rules and laws set forth, how does that make me in denial?

Is it any different if you are fined for being over weight and take it to court to get the fines reduced? Of course not. The law is the law,.. and we are within the law to make an effort to seek alternative punishment.

Ha Ha Ha......you make it out like a "speeding ticket" is no big deal.......but just remember in most instances it's a conscious act to speed.......sure a radar cop at the bottom of a long down hill is not fair.....but ironically those downhill speed limits are there for a reason. I think you all cast if off as just a speeding ticket because you don't often see or deal with the end result of excessive speed. Ask the cops, rescue folks and insurance companies how much excessive speed contributes to the accident rate, and in turn the severity of damage and injury when the inevitable accident does happen.

Most violations of motor vehicle laws are acts that are done with the knowledge that they are illegal.....speeding, rolling stops, crossing double yellows to make turns, u-turns etc......and almost everyone one of those violations can, and do lead to vehicle accidents. Then when the accident happens, the same lack of ability to accept responsibility for one's own actions, leads us to the same "it's not may fault" argument, and the circle starts all over again.............lot of bs for professionals

If the speed limit is 65,.. and I set my cruise control to 70,.. I have willfully set it to a speed beyond the limit. If I get a ticket,.. I have gotten it fair and square. I dont get upset with the officer. I deal with it.

I'm almost 50 yrs old,.. been driving since I was 16. Got my first ever ticket (A DUI) at age 26. First speeding ticket I was 29.

In all of my yrs driving,.. speeding when I feel I can safely do so,.. you know how many accidents I have had that were my fault? 1,.. and speed was not a contributing factor. In fact,.. I was doing 20 mph below the posted speed limit when it happened.

You are so hung up on this accepting responsibility thing. Who here is not accepting responsibility? Who here said getting a speeding ticket is not their fault? I took responsibility for every ticket I ever got. I paid my dues and dealt with the consequences. If you are fine with accepting points and paying insurance premiums,.. by all means. Does not mean I'm not going to reach out and chase down every legal course of action I can to seek out alternative out comes. One way or the other,.. we all pay.

Don't waste your breath Hurst. He's an insurance pusher. No doubt upset he won't be able to jack up rates because a driver might beat a speeding ticket.

    I do have a question that the insurance man might be qualified to answer;
Where do I find causation studies for accidents involving trucks?

You probably know this, because I'm sure you've driven two million miles (not).

Tailgating, Distracted driving, Driving too fast for conditions.... These things cause accidents way more than speeding. But speeding is the boogie man because it's easy for guys like you and the revenuer to cash in on it.
