If I apply at one company, does it stop me from applying to another at the same time?

How long does the process take once you submit an application?

no lol, apply for as many as you like. Ive had companies call me the next day, some took over a month, but for companies you are really interested in, give them a call to check on your app status after a few days.

    pattyj and Fred823 Thank this.

You stand a pretty good chance at getting prehired by most companies. I was prehired by 4 or 5. I had a friend that told me good things about his company and had to actually call a few times to get in the door. My application was over looked simply because of my living location, even with a reference from a solid driver. Don't be afraid to ask them after a few days, things could work out very well!

That is my next question, location. I am in southwest Florida, across the alley from Miami. The company schools I've been looking at are ALL out of state. What I have taken from that is I should get my permit here in Florida before I arrive at any orientation, so I don't have to repeat once I'm out.

I am single though and have no real ties to my current location.

Maybe I am overlooking, but so far my top three to apply would be Prime, Schneider and Stevens, no particular order.

Some schools want you to get your permit in their state. Some want you to get it before hand. Once you pick a school/company they will tell you what you need to do

I pull from Miami all the time and my bosses are always telling us that it's one of the hardest places to get freight out of. You might want to try one of the big companies that pull freight there all the time because most of Florida is all owner ops.

Prime and schnieder are about equal in pay. I almost signed with stevens but they start at like 23 cents a mile, ehhh. All those companies have decent equipment though. A few people here run prime and love it and I see prime heading south more than the rest. Might be your best option to get occasional home time down south. Usxpress runs south a lot too, but you have to do teams starting out I believe.

look into a private school near you, 85% chance you can get it fully funded though the WIOA program.

that's what I did I went to school completely for free (even my gas getting there paid), and no year contract for this guy

    Fred823 Thanks this.

So with that all said, Prime is my "dream" company it seems.

I will look into that WIOA program though too. Thank you all for helping
