Oh, you're too late. The thrill is gone. Maybe I'll play with you on the flip side.

I started in 93 forced off in 00 due to seizures from a head injury. However my first truck was old enough to be my Father almost. 62 Emeryville 238 Detroit 5X4 with 3 Speed rears. You want to talk about fun to drive. Then I got upgraded to a 71 Transtar with a 318 Detroit and a 13 speed. I drove that one for over 2 years all within the state of IL. Then I went OTR and my first truck was a 88 279 Pete with a 310 Kitty cat and I was like what is this a Hood in front of me. Then I got the lightweight and I mean Lightweight T600A model that could scale 50K in a 53 foot trailer without breaking a sweat. Then I was put into Rose the 88 IH 9300 that well lets just say had more ponies than a Switching locomotive did.

Then boss lost his biggest customer to a Bottom Feeder company US Express under cut us by 30 cents a mile on a rate even though we offered better service than they did we still lost them. So I moved to another carrier and was given my first truck built in the 90's a 95 377 with the Stupid 10 then my father and I teamed up and we got the Big double bunked 379 and then a new one in 98 then I said screw that place after my Dispatcher during a FMCSA audit of the place wanted me to run Illegal to Chicago I refused and he said he would starve me out of there. Right in front of the Auditors. Went to Millis for about 6 months then Henderson had a midroof there then got a condo then into their Test Fleet and really had FUN.

Yes, your age and experience has been well documented. I think you missed my point. Go Pats.

So today is a Friday, it's the start of my three day weekend. My truck keys are hanging in the terminal miles away and I'm sitting in my back yard enjoying a freshly brewed cup of cappuccino and this internet trucker really wants to spar it out with me about truck transmissions. He wants the last word.

You got it bro. You're the man.

This delicious cup of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe goes to you, wherever you are tonight.

Eh...no fun in sitting around sipping cappuccino. Much more fun when you're out doing some chores with the farm hand and he runs the pickup out of fuel in the back 40, leaving a LOOOOOONG walk back out to another vehicle to go get some gas...and then a LOOOOOONG walk back with the gas (since it's muddy and there isn't another 4x4 truck on the farm).

A little Redneck Engineering saves the day, since there was a nearly empty gas can and somebody had disposed of a 16 oz aluminum Miller Lite bottle in the bed of the truck...we made it work...had about 14 oz of gas. Got us back to the barn, though, where we could drive to the gas station for more gas.

Gotta love old trucks with mechanical fuel pumps...
