I-70 Chains

I don't think there are any storms coming through until Sunday and Monday.

 

Anybody know what conditions are on i70 easy in Colorado from mm 178 to mm198

This does beg the question, "Why would a driver want to run I-70 through the Rockies without chains?"

Thanks I was just asking because I had saw a sign board traveling east on I 70 said all mcg chains are required but I made it through as the roads were in good shape

 

They are required to have clear through the end of May. I-70 MMs 133 to 259. Those fines aren't a whistle in the park, either. http://www.cotrip.org/truckers.htm

The signs at the state line and the signs at the 133mm are a bit confusing. If you aren't carrying chains from the 133 to 259 Sept. 1st to May 31st, you can be fined, if chains are required and you don't have them, you WILL be fined. Now, that said, there are chain law areas on US 287 So. of Lamar, on Co 71 between Limon and Brush, on I-70 just west of Limon, on I-76 N.E. of Denver. In 19 yrs of driving trucks in Colorado, I've chained on I-70 W. of Limon twice.
