If you blow a steer tire the last thing you want to do is nail your brakes. Get a good grip on the wheel and try to steer on to the shoulder not touching your brakes, just coasting. If it feels like its going to go over, step on the gas and accelerate, that will help bring the nose of the truck back up. When you regain control start coasting again untill your slow enough to get on the shoulder and use your brakes

could not have been said any better. when a steer tire blows you will know. the steering wheel will shake like you can not believe. the best advise i can give is prevention. always do a pretrip and post trip and keep a good eye on your steer tires for wear and tear. -
In my career I have blown 1 steer tire and like was said prevention is the best thing since then I make a rule of 50k miles on a steer makes it a trailer tire. Like was said no brakes and stay calm look arround for your way out
