I will say this since my feeling hasn't changed from any of the OTR companies I've worked for:
When it's time for me to go home, it is time.

So, new driver, you want to know what it's like to drive a truck for a living. Let me give you a true-life example.
I am sitting in my truck in our Joliet, Illinois, terminal. I arrived yesterday and t-called my previous load for what my DM said was "a driver waiting for your load." It's now tomorrow, 18 hours after I dropped that trailer...and it's still sitting in the same spot, unmoved. I guess "a driver" wasn't really waiting for my load.
But that's not the lesson!
I am scheduled to take a multiple-stop load to Michigan before I take my hometime. Almost all the freight is here, but one part is still in Tennessee...and the driver just started his break.
"It might not be ready until tomorrow," says the weekend shift leader. "Or it might be ready in an hour; I'm going to call my boss."
It's never easy, is it?JForce28 and Lone Ranger 13 Thank this. -
RoadCall Thanks this.

Like @tow614 wrote, Big G hires in Florida. They're a classy outfit; I saw a lot of their trucks when I was in Winter Haven earlier this week. -
Abilene has a good reputation and hires out of Florida

Spending the weekend at a truck stop 5 miles from my front yard...but I can't go there because I have a load. Bummer.
