Next week I take my dot physical test. I checked my blood pressure today, and it was 147/79 is that to high for DOT? ? I'm concerned about this I don't wanna fail... Do it have to be under 130/80 or what?

The 147 number is a problem. The lower number can be up to 90.
Don't drink any coffee or have any booze for a couple days before you take the test.
Don't add any extra salt from now on, and try to get low sodium foods.
And try to be relaxed during the test. -

Lay off all salt and sodium(carbonated drinks). Drink alot of water and go walking everyday/exercise. I been there, I know what it takes. Also, get plenty of rest all week. You should be okay by D day.

Also this is one area I agree 100% with the FMCSA. High blood pressure is a killer. The feds are doing all truck drivers a big favor here. It is not just your job, it is your life!

When they take your blood pressure.
Hold your breath count to 100, and watch them panic.tucker Thanks this. -
And your reading was on what kind of machine? The home version machines are somewhat accurate, but are so you can tell if the pressure changes so then to see the doc. The easiest way is to take a Viagra the day before. Also sit and relax before they take it for 5 minutes or so.

Ask them to take your BP manually. The automated machines tend to read higher compared to a using a hand pump cuff and using a stethoscope. Also make sure the cuff they use is the correct size, if it's to small in width it will give off a higher reading.
