Steve, is a recovery possible to allow you to come back to trucking at some point?

If only my comment had said "95-84 is the way to go." Oh wait, it did. I also just looked up on idaho.gov and made sure that they still had an exemption for exceeding the 48' law if a over length permit is acquired. If is. And the restriction is for a short stretch of tight hairpins south of New meadows, by the way. Now that I have posted my useless info I will also state that I've always taken 95, because at best you could shave a couple minutes in a car, a truck I figured I'd lose time.

All that aside, hope you are doing well, and recovering fast.

Yes. The knee is only painful under certain circumstances. I'm "officially" off work til 02/08. When I see my doctor he will either extend that (for surgery) or do nothing.

I terminated my lease in such a way that I could lease another truck from IEL (NOT gonna happen) or possible go to work for Swift as a company driver. The ONLY way I would consider driving for Swift is if I could get a shuttle job or MAYBE a day-cab slot. I say MAYBE to the day-cab because of my reluctance to deal with an actual supervisor on a daily basis.

I'm strongly considering going back to the port (LA-Long Beach). I have a TWIC card and know the routine. I have a few options based here in Phoenix.

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

And that restriction renders 55 off-limits to a 53' trailer from the intersection of US 95 to I-84. It is VERY clearly posted and I seem to remember something about it on the over-length permit needed for US 95.

Petro in wells, nv. Shut down early because road conditions show chain law up from just south of here. Found out that have until 1700 on Wednesday for delivery so figured, why push since only have 700 miles left.

And to add insult you CANNOT legally make it from Wells to Phoenix in 11 hours of driving. I've tried twice and both time I was in violation by 10-15 minutes as I pulled into the yard.

I've been passed twice by Swift leased trucks in the last few weeks when I was topped out at 67.

Also getting peeved with a DM that gives me grief when I ask to recalculate routing because I'm getting screwed for 115 miles. Laredo taking a break and wishing I had a nice glass of Scotch right now.

Of course you make it from Wells to Phoenix in 2 days. I was saying that I've tried TWICE to legally make it in 1 day and both times ran out of time 10-15 miles from the Swift Phoenix yard. Given that the majority of this route is posted for 65 mph not sure what good a 70 mph truck will do. I ran the route @ 65 mph every where it was legal.
