If they passed the CDL examination then I'm sure they can read the road signs. The last thing we need is another government mandated requirement to drive a truck. Plus this industry has a lot of immigrant drivers from Russia, Afghanistan, Somalia, what have you. So high school diplomas from those countries probably wouldn't even be recognized here.

I was looking at want ads again today. Ran across a couple of companies requiring a highschool diploma or equivalent. well it started a search, this article was published in July of 2015. by Bloomberg. yes I thought of this thread.

That's a pretty interesting read. It will be interesting to see how lowering the CDL minimum age to 18 effects that drop out/no higher education rate also... when trucking is an automated minimum wage job in the next 10-15 years and these people are in the same boat as the frack guys are now.
At least college degrees might be worth something again soon as all the decent paying tech jobs are leaving, so there may be a little hope. -

If you can drive a car without one why not a truck?
I'm sure they would catch on real fast if you can't read or do math.
You get a GED and right when you get the diploma there is no need to remember anything you just learned.
Waste of time and money.
It is just a traditional right of passage.
