2 Car hauler question

Insurance for your own authority was a joke? Do you mean to haul cars? Or in general?

 

I have some questions as well. I am a new car manager at a local high line dealership and bought a 2011 F-350 duelly to haul the cars we dealer trade. I called progressive. They told me I'd be roughly $6,000 for a year of insurance on 1 million. I'm looking at a double car carrier vs. a 3 car to try and keep my weight below the 26,001 lb limit. Any suggestions from veteran guys that would be willing to help me out. Mistakes you made that I should watch for? The truck only has 58,000 miles and I bought a comprehensive warranty that will go to 148,000 miles. I'm ready to ship just want some wise advice if you have any! I am the one at the dealership the arranges shipping so I figured why not do it myself and have a driver that will do it while I collect the money.

 

What is your target income per odometer mile? Unless the dealer you work for is paying crazy high prices you stand very little chance of even clearing a profit if YOU were the one doing the work. Forget about paying a driver.

Also I had thought Progressive was getting out of commercial car hauling business. Are you sure you got quoted the right policy? As in liability plus cargo for a company with an MC number?

 

Heard at a warehouse. So two buddy's got a job to drive a 30k straight truck on a hotshot from Chicago to Kentucky then bring back another truck. Had no cdl, plates weren't rated right, nothing. So on the way they down they got stopped and given warnings about being illegal. So they drop off the first truck, load up the second and head back to Chicago. Well the driver (ho got paid to do it) was tired and had his buddy drive. They get pulled over again and get wrung through the ringer. $7k+ in tickets. The main driver wouldn't even help his friend with the tickets. Hell I've seen a lot of construction guys not realise that if their trailer was rated to a weight they needed the license and plates to match.

 

I'm reworking some numbers and I'll get that to you. Progressive came back higher. They said $8,200 a year. That's for me and one other driver.
