I am not sure exactly what you are asking; yes my pressure is higher with no load at say 1700 vs. 1300.

If your feed is from the bottom of the tank, I wonder if you have a line that has a bad spot at about the same elevation (height) as the top half of the tank, allowing it to suck air when pulling fuel from the lower half?

Yes that's what I was asking. It's possible that is the only line I haven't replaced because it was newer looking so I just left it alone

I don't see the spikes with my electric gauge, it stays very steady.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

But as you can see with the oversize nozzles the stock pump has trouble keeping up, bottom left gauge in this one.

On other trucks that I have owned I had manual fuel pressure gauges in the cab, with a bonze looking porous sort of thing to subdue the pulses (snubber maybe?). They worked better, but the thought of having a pressurized fuel line routed into the cab never seemed like a good idea. I mounted the sender for the electronic gauge that I have now directly on to the fuel filter/primer pump housing. I wonder if a snubber wouldn't help on it as well.

Mine doesn't bounce at idle or going through the gears just on fuel throttle pulls....no snubber on this gauge wasn't supposed to need one but I've always put them on in the past and I was wondering if it would get rid of the spikes. Smokingcat that's an awesome sounding truck looks like it lays down the power too

Also I teed my gauge in with the line going to the injection pump right after it comes out of the fuel filter

Mine has a digital read-out, but the numbers usually don't bounce around too much.

She does make some noise, it's not running as good as it should, needs a new head or this one to have new guides put in it.

Stacks are only about a foot and a half above the cab.

Turbo is a big Garrett off of an industrial cummins.

So what's the best way to check to see if the rack is getting hung up in the pump and isn't moving to full fuel? Might try and check it this weekend if it isn't too hard todo
