driving for walmart

    While shopping at Walmart, like I was last night with my son, I am not on duty being paid by Walmart, so of course Walmart could not restrict me using my cell phone, nor do they when I am not physically driving the truck. It is when I am driving their truck that rules regarding use of a cell phone or other electronic device come into play.

    Because in most states it is illegal to do so. In the few states it is allowed, it must be clearly posted that the changing rooms are under video surveillance to prevent shoplifting. As for cameras in Walmart trucks, there are none at present and no plans to add them in the near future. If they were to add inward facing cameras, I would argue against violating my privacy because the truck is also my bedroom and laws regarding voyeurism could come into play.

    An employment agreement and rental agreement both can spell out what is and what is not permitted, but each have their own laws governing them. My employer could restrict use of a cell phone under existing laws much easier than a landlord could.

    Bottom line..... Walmart or any employer can place terms of employment on its employees. If they do not violate any existing state or federal laws, they will stand. You keep referring to the Constitution, which is a document intended to limit the power of the government over the citizens. Walmart is not the government and they enjoy the same rights as others whether you like it or not. You can choose to not work there or shop there, but have no say in how they choose to use their rights to protect the company, its employees, and/or private property. As a shareholder, you could voice your opinion, though freedom of speech does not mean you have a right to be heard.

    I think the big issue with the cell phones is this so that it's not so much using the phone while driving which I can understand companies restricting but the company's demanding you turn off your cell phone records... That's where it crosses the line not even law enforcement can demand you to turn off your cell phone records they have to go to court and get a warrant and provide probable cause to get a warrant... So therefore no company can demand you to turn over your cell phone records.. I believe this is where the issue is like I said a company can restrict you too from using the phone inside while operating a vehicle in any way which I said is not really a big issue just the cell phone records.

    The driver signs an employment addendum to provide phone records for the day an accident or incident occurred. Because the driver already agreed to this as part of their employment agreement, their rights are not being violated. The phone records may prove it didn't play a role in an accident by showing the driver was not talking or texting at the time an accident/incident occurred, BUT, it does nothing to prove whether the driver was distracted or driving unsafe. This is why I have a high definition dash cam on my truck that I purchased to fill in more details to help exonerate me in the event of an accident/incident.

    It is Walmart's truck. I play by their rules, which I feel are not nearly as strict as they could be, in exchange for an excellent job with a huge compensation and benefits package. To me, it is my choice. Others may prefer something different, which is fine if they are happy with their situation. There may be some Walmart drivers using a prepaid phone or VOIP for voice calls and texting in order to skirt the company rules. If they are, they do so at their own risk.

    I recently applied for a Walmart driving position. I did the road test and passed the physical. I indicated that I had a misdemeanor for solicitation back in 1999. I'm currently waiting for the background check. Does anyone think that this conviction will stop me from being hired?

    Sounds to me you know to much of nothing WM is nothing like how you just explained it,but it sounds to me you are getting wrong feed back from someone that's not happy here but than again this job is not for everyone.

    I'm a WM driver myself and I agree with everything you said lots of guys here upset but they don't see all the benefits they get,I guess some guys can't make it here.
