Do your research here, plenty of examples both of success and failures. In general they can be ripoffs and should be avoided, that said if you take time, have the paperwork explained to you by a lawyer you hire and are willing to work hard they can be successful.

Because so many fail asking a general question without doing the legwork will only get you a bunch of snarky replies...

    long runs don't pay well.
If you don't mind working at a cheap mileage rate I'm sure some carriers will offer that for you.

Schneider has the Choice program where you get to pick your own freight off their board.Similar to Landstar. Most trucks they lease are Freightliners. You can find the Schneider Choice drivers on Facebook.Just search Contractors Moving America.Thats where the Choice drivers are at.They will give you the scoop

I got 2 companies you can try that I have done pretty good with...CRST but you must be willing to train rookies,I did it for 2 years and came out pretty good, if you looking for smaller company then go with mgr freight out of summit,I'll...they have a program were u can pay off the truck in 1 year...

Ok wait!? In order to "come out pretty good" you had to train new drivers. It doesn't sound like a good lease program if training drivers is part of the formula for the success of "your" company.

I agree that's why I am no longer with them....I don't need a rookie to make money in this industry but I was just trying to help another fellow driver out with my little knowledge....
