I did notice that recruiters have NO DESIRE to deal with people with logical questions that require real answers like actual numbers, yes, or no.

    Example:
He says: All of the terminals are set up for the driver's comfort. Some of them even have gyms. We also have the best equipment in the industry blah blah blah...

I say: Great. I would love a tour of the closest facility. 2.5 hours away. How's Thursday.

He says: I will be in Reno then....

I say: Will the facility be closed? I would like to talk to the terminal manager and see the equipment... Etc.

He says: it will be opened but I need to be there if you come by for a "tour"

I say: there isn't a recruiter on the property for walk-in applicants?

He says: hmmmmm.... Hah.... Ummmm. Yes let me get you his number. Puts me on hold for 5 minutes. Gives me a number.

I call the guy. He tells me, he's going to be on vacation Thursday-Thursday the following week. Also, he doesn't schedule appointments like that. Anyway, even though I live in Seattle... My driver manager will be in Phoenix because all teams are run out of there. But, I will be home every week. And I don't really need a tour because the training is in California.

I know this is a run around game. I don't play that with my livelihood.

Recruiters wouldn't know what to do if every applicant actually asked detailed questions.most don't ask any questions then the poor new drivers learn things out the hard way.

I don't understand you people. Why stay with these companies for so long? Why not apply at Walmart or something similar, with clean record and 3 years. Should be no problem, right?

I didn't work there... I gave that company a pass and was hired elsewhere.

Driver, I jumped on board with Werner in 1986 and stayed there until 2001. They were a fine company to be with at one time but trust me on this, they aren't anymore. I would encourage you to look elsewhere. Werner is run by a bunch of corporates who have never driven a truck and are only interested in the numbers.

Well I just recently left due to some bull that I shouldn't have been honest about but hey, the truth did set me free... From Werner lol.

Anyways, I can first hand tell ya, you're pretty much ####ed as far as detention goes. I was lucky to have always gotten it when I wanted it, but I #### sure went the #### off about it several times. I declined loads on the account shorter than Memphis to Dallas unless it was Memphis to Tupelo.

Typically unless you contact Driver Placement or check the website to see what's available they don't really seem to broadcast it that much, then again I wasn't in the general freight pool myself.

Werner recruiter/driver came to my school last month. Talked about his years of experience as a Werner flatbedder and now van driver. Shows us his military decals all over his truck. When questioned about Werner's flatbedding he says, "If you wanna flatbed go to TMC" lol
