Regardless how 'in the toilet' the economy is, people are STILL buying new cars, just not SUVs and such. They are STILL buying BMWs and the like. =)

Not in my neck of the woods. The new car dealers are getting very worried. -
I only touch the occasional new car, 99% are used.
Grossed 1700 last week working 5 days.

I HATE car hauling!
7 one stop picks to load, 7 one stop drops............ ITS FOR THE BIRDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Price of fuel is way up, car haulers don't get good fuel mileage, price of freight is has not gone up with the cost of fuel, and freight availability is very soft..... aught to tell you some thing.
Roadmedic nailed it, A LOT of dealers all over the country are worried/hurting.walleye Thanks this. -
Well as far as I see it, until we can all fly around, cars will still be needed. So, I'll just wait till Selland calls me I guess.

Cars usually drive on and off the trailer. (unless you are hauling wrecks/rebuildables) Most other items require a forklift.

the car market is totally in the sh*tter. i've been to the auction every week for a month and used car trade-in inventory is down almost 50%. one good point is that repos are up, if you consider that good.i havent been able to find a "decent" carhaul job since i got laid-off in early july.i have over 10 years experience.one company i had an interview with offered me 25% after fuel.i laughed and walked out the door.most of the better companys ive talked to have a hiring freeze or they are downsizing.the other option is to become a lease operator, which in my humble opionion,is the worst thing anyone could get involved in.i've tried that before and it doesnt work out in most cases.they starved me out on my last year of the lease so i had to bail so i would lose my home.the industry is in worst shape ive ever seen it.im going to pull a reefer for now because more people have to eat than buy cars.
