I really haven't watched a Super Bowl since I watched #1 a million years ago. It's way too much Major Entertainment...the first quarter is all about players' jitters, then comes The Halftime Extraveganza, and finally The Winner with all the analysis and comments by every retired NFL player and coach who still has a brain...and every hot blonde 30-Something female eye candy.

    Gimme a break.

Will Peyton retire after this? He should, but rarely does a professional athlete at his level do so with grace. Remember Montana? Magic? Michael? And that guy who threw for the Packers? They can't just take their millions and buy a small South Pacific island country.

Carolina? How do they even have an NFL team? I lived there.

And CBS Sports doing the Super Bowl? O. M. G. There should be a law prohibiting Phil Sims from ever broadcasting his voice!

So I sit here in this crowded Love's parking lot 40 miles north of my drop tomorrow and don't care one bit about who wins or not.

I just hope nobody gets seriously hurt.

I'm sitting in a Shell station truck stop somewhere in southern Alabama at the end of a hectic-but-short 4-stop day. Tomorrow, I have 3 stops; my first appointment is at 1000 CT and my last one is at 2200 ET in some small town with no truck stops or rest areas or weigh stations within 35 miles. Just one smallish Walmart.

I hate this crossing time zones business. Trying to figure out "what time it is" here or there so I don't get gigged for being late or get there an hour before they open.

Considering I have to drive to my appointment in the morning and get unloaded at the end of the day, to me, that looks like a very tight end to a long day, especially considering that finding a place to park anywhere in this country after 10 PM is a very iffy thing. But maybe I can cut a bit off my appointment times by showing ipup early and smiling. It worked twice today and I gained an hour; I would like that tomorrow when I will really need it.

The time zone thing for Alabama is super easy to figure out.
    1) If you are going EAST (I-20), NORTH (I-85), or NORTH on I-59 and cross into Georgia, you are on Eastern time.
    2) If you go SOUTH on US 231 and then go EAST on I-10, when you cross the big river you are on EASTERN.

Yes, there are some exceptions to the rule as you get VERY near the state line, but I will assume you have Walmart Refrigerated DC's in maybe Brundidge, Opelika, LaGrange and.....the one just east of Atlanta. Brundidge is well within the Central time zone and Opelika is 20 miles from being Eastern. All of GA is EASTERN.

Taking a 2nd read through your multi-stop load, it doesn't appear you have DCs. Either way, South Alabama is my area, so if I can help, let me know.

Yup. No real DC's on this run. It's all local warehouses and Supervalue distribution points. Normally, the time zones don't play thins kind of havoc because there time difference is t that critical; WEL does a pretty good job of not jamming deliveries together, which is one of their best points. This one happens to have an unusually long break between Drop 6 and Drop Last...and it's that one that crosses the time zone from southeastern Alabama to northwestern Florida.

And waiting for more than an hour just for my DM to get a Comchek number is ridiculous.

I've been lucky not to have been given too many LTL loads so far. This has been the worst; many stops over several days and less than 500 paid miles. But I just came off hometime so maybe this was all that was available leaving Michigan. We'll see.

I'm sitting in a door at my final drop in Quincy, Florida. I passed through Dothan, Alabama on my way here, an unexpected mini-pleasure. I haven't been to Dothan since I did the helicopter recurrent course when I was with the FAA long, long ago. I was introduced to Krispy Kreme donuts by my oldest daughter - I didn't like them then and I don't like them now - and together saw that fabulous first-run movie, City Slickers.

    Good times.

Except I saw absolutely nothing I recognized this time, which isn't surprising, I guess, considering it's been more than 30 years.

Don't feel bad. Dothan has grown exponentially in the last few years. Right now, the circle is an absolute mess on the SW side of town (close to US 84). They are installing a bridge and it's been a cluster for several weeks and will continue to be like that for a few more weeks.
