Speeding ticket turned warrant

He will have a "Failure to appear" on his MVR. It will stay there even though he pays it. But I don't know if it counts for any points.

 

I had one in NC some years back... I sent the payment in, but I read an "8" as a "3", so my payment was $5 short, and got rejected... I never appeared on the court date, as I figured it was taken care of... found out afterwards where I had erred, and got a nastygram from the NC DMV, along with a threat of "indefinite suspension" of my license if I didn't pay my pound of flesh by a specified date. No points for it, though.
Although it is possible that Nevada has a different approach, as they certainly seem to IAW what's been stated here thus far.

 

This is one of those questions where I believe the proper answer is I don't know. How is your driving record otherwise? Any Warrant is going to hinder you as it is an order to any law enforcement officer to arrest you and produce you to the court. In your case it sounds like your warrant was quashed and the court is working with you to pay the fine. In trucking the magic number for MPH over is in the 15/16 range. You are OK with maybe one in your history after sometime has passed, but anything more is going to cause issues. In your case the ticket was for 12 over. My best advice is to make a list of the companies you want to drive for and call them to find out. Every one of the larger carriers have a recruiting department. Don't listen to all the naysayers out there that will tell you all recruiters lie all the time. Another piece of advice is to slow down! If you work at it you should eventually find a path into the trucking field and this leads me to my last piece of advice. Once you get that CDL protect it. Lose that heavy foot. Refuse to have any alcohol in your system and drive. Understand that a DWI/DUI or a reckless driving conviction puts it in serious danger!

 

NC the "magic number" is 20 over or 80+ mph. got one for 15 over and have a lawyer gonna get it dropped to equip. failure. it was 55 in a 35, truck speed going down Black mtn. I was empty.

A warrant being issued as a "bench" warrant is not the same as a search and apprehend.

 

So your struggling to pay a 450 dollar fine? You should have NO problem hiring on and getting into a L/P deal,, companies LOVE low resource drivers like you.get you all hooked up to a life of slavery

87 in a 75? What state? That wouldn't have gotten a second glance in NM.

 

Just what in the name of Moses do you think a judge is doing when they order a warrant from the bench? A weekend at the holiday inn paid for by the court? A bench warrant is a court order to take this person into custody and bring them onto my courtroom.

 

it's the actively seeking arrest that differs.
