It would also drive the cost of oil up so high a gallon of milk would be 10 bucks. Everything you eat is influenced by the cost of oil. Even more so when farmers plow food crops under to plant bio diesel crops.

Why do you say that? Milk wasn't that much when crude was $150 a barrel.

If we cut off all imported oil, we would be thinking back on the days of 150 a barrel like my father did when talking about 25 cent a gallon diesel.

You guys are leaving out all the wall street speculators that originally drove oil thru the roof.

What I want to know is how the heck they can afford to make ethanol with these low oil prices.

Oil will NEVER and I repeat NEVER be at a happy medium... to much political power to be gained, and lost.

Economy seems to be tanking right along with oil prices. How's the rates right now, where's all the loads at? Steel mills laying off, people far removed from oil field feel the down turn in oil, not saying you're all wrong or I'm all right, but economy feels it.

flightwatch and Ben Gunn Thank this.

So redneck is now a bad thing? I guess I missed the memo. Hard to believe using a word that means, hard working, family loving, country boy could be a bad thing. Maybe I'm too much of a "redneck" to understand.

Which means paid for by the taxpayers.
Low oil prices or not, turning food into fuel has never made any sense to me.

Hey spam i understand your reasoning cheap fuel should mean lower inflation cause it reduces the cost of living however as "Benn Gunn" mentioned those who rely on the oil industry, be it oil exploration, etc etc they will be effected as big compaines like Mobil, BP, Shell start to cut back on drilling we have the same issue in Australia only its Coal and Iron Ore the prices have plummeted, 1 in 3 mines are actually running at a loss so ultimately it effects the economy because the government has to pay for the unemployment and social security benifits.
