Sorry got my post mixed up. The blocks are identical. Crank, liner packs piston coolers, turbo and ecm program and poof you got a c16.Oxbow Thanks this.

Just found this forum. I have a 2ws putting down 617 hp and 1988 lbs of torque to the wheels. Completely stock build with some computer tricks. I would do anything to get a true C-16 though can't beat displacement!

Yes I still have it but it needs the journals turned. They are in rough shape.

I recently purchased a 03 379. I was told the motor was a 6NZ and all documentation pointed at it being a 6NZ. The tags on the block had been painted over so I scrapped off the paint to discover the motor had been replaced with a MXS serial number motor. It has been converted over to a single turbo and has a 600hp 7CZ file in the ecm. What could I do with this motor with whats been done to increase HP??? 58 injectors? 800hp cam? should I change the pistons to a lower compression piston vs the stock 18:1 pistons before increasing hp anymore??

Oh...and it has a C16 turbo on it

mill the tops of the pistons

I'm planning on doing an inframe next winter. So I'll be replacing the pistons. Just curious if I should replace them with a certain part # or just with what comes in the kit?

replace with 10or-7172 liner packs. but make #### sure you have the acert crank in it and just not the mxs block. if it has the 6nz crank you are limited to just the 6nz pistons and rods. the blocks are the same for a 6nz and a mxs. I don't like the 800 marine cam unless you are going to put larger injectors in. I don't like them but you can install the acert twin turbos for some good air flow and do away with the precooler. if it does have the acert crank and 18.1 pistons you can cut the bowl in the pistons. but your better off just getting the 7172 liner packs. they are 16.1Last edited: Feb 12, 2016
SAR Thanks this. -
I looked up the part # 10R-7172 you provided for the cylinder packs and it said its for a C15. Without the dash like C-15 means Acert right? Was there a difference in cyl packs for the 600 - 625 hp acerts vs the 435 - 550 hp acerts? If so then it would just be a matter of ordering one overhaul kit vs the other. And I would prefer to stick with the single turbo as it is now. I will more than likely upgrade the turbo when its overhauled. Either Garrett or Borg Warner. I still need to do some more research as to which turbo would be more efficient for the combo I'm looking at putting together.
