Mr. Lofgren? Can I call you Chris? Thanks, so umm, its 5 degrees right now where I am at. According to my understanding of company policy I should be idling the truck as there are no plug ins available. It expected to go as low as -9 by 0600. In addition my truck seems to have major drafts. Had it shut down for 30 minutes while I was inside eating. Came out and got 20 minutes of idle before it cut off. Am I supposed to stay up all night starting the truck? How will I be a safe , rested driver then? When I fueled up today it was for $2.05 a gallon. Are we still as concerned about fuel costs? I mean I DO understand to a point, but don't you agree that this is a little ridiculous?

I wonder, did the engineers take into consideration that our trucks now have downward exhaust and they placed that sensor about 5 feet from the exhaust? Situated under the apron of the trailer? That has side skirts? Trapping heat. In the area of the sensor?

Think its safe to unhook and pull slightly out from under? Like was directed when these were first installed? In a truck stop that usually is tightly configured by other engineers to maximize space? Meaning theres JUST enough room to back into and exit from a parking space. When the nose gets taken off , am I then charged with a preventable?

Maybe I can suggest you and your board member brothers , man up and spend a week out with a driver. See what it is we have to contend with OUT THERE, then pair that with what we ALSO have to contend with from Green Bay.

This, THIS , is the thanks I get? For all I do?

    Respectfully,
A driver who cut his teeth with this company but is looking for the first decent out he can find.

When you've got a Schneider driver and a JB Hunt driver together in a car who's doing the driving? A. The police officer!

@mickeyrat you just need to suck it up and unroll your -30° sleeping bag and put on your bigboy thermals just like the CEO would do if the furnace quit in his palace

Hiding?? lol. Nah lost interest for the most part. Forum went sour. No more helpful posts or funny stories. Basically since the whole agreement debate in October this forum has been misery. Just a place to whine and cry and speculate. Yeah freight sucks. It's winter lol. This happens every year. Gotta suck it up and find the money trail. Too many people out here think they're daycabs lol.

Yep, might be the parameters. Sensor was going bad and I had the code looked at at my last PM, they changed it out. Funnily enough I was at the exact same truck stop 1 day shy of exactly 30 days since the last time I idled.. Same #### starting temp too. Go figure. That was the only difference between then and now. SEM guy was cool for the little he could do. Just wrote it up and kept it open for a day in case I needed the jump. Ended up uncoupling and THEN it idled all night. PITA to recouple and stay coupled at -15. Need the shop to clean out the jaws. Couldnt get it to fully catch.

When it's really cold and you're having trouble coupling drain the fuel water seperator and pour it over the jaws. The warmish disel will make the grease a little more pliant.

In other news the battery I'vs been hitching about for the last two months died. While I'm in a dock. Solenoid is clicking but the starter not engaging. Lucky me.
