The good thing about this is I happened to find the last on-street parking area next to the smallest Walmart I've ever seen. After getting here at 0100 this morning, tired and cranky after a very long day with lots of frustrations, I somehow drove through this teeny parking lot without hitting anything as I realized that no truck pulling a 53' trailer was going to be parking here.
I left and, lo and behold, right there on the street outside their entrance, was a dead-end road with enough space for three trucks. And there were two! So I backed into the last one and slept like the dead. A pretty good end to a not-so-much-fun day.
Now to wait here in far northwest Florida, 300+ miles from our nearest terminal, to see if there's any freight going, well, anywhere out of Florida.
My new, final resting place

I will be in tampa tomorrow...
we always have plenty of freight for some reason.... -
I got a plan! First it's off to Leesburg, Florida, to pick a bunch of somethings up, then drive 1,300 miles over the weekend for a Sunday delivery in Green Bay.
Could they be repositioning me for my new truck...? Time will tell. -

Too bad Ol' Joe isn't here to read this. I had my very first more-than-600-miles day today. 635, to be exact, on a marathon drive from Florida to wherever I am now (in Kentucky I think...?), 13 minutes shy of my 11-hour drive day. I'm not quite as far on the way to Green Bay as I wanted to be because of a stupid yet very serious accident in Atlanta, which held me up for more than an hour today.
And I have another marathon drive starting around noon tomorrow, with one significant difference: I won't be shielding my eyes from the sun and I probably won't be hot-footing it at 66. It is suppose to snow pretty much the entire way.
Oh, and I'll probably hit the inbound weekend Chicagoland traffic mess, too.
10:09 left in the trip and 11:00 to do it. Should be interesting...scythe08 Thanks this. -
Some days just make me wish I was back in my house, being bored, reading a book. Today was one of those days.
I hate, hate, hate the way stupid car drivers drive when there's snow on the road. The rule seems to be 'get in the same left lane you always drive in, but go a whole lot slower. It's safe!'
No, it isn't. Just ask the 20-30 cars involved in a bunch of accidents on I-65 today.
Yup, some days just make me wish I was back in my house, being bored, reading a book. Today was one of those days.popcorn169 and 88 Alpha Thank this. -
I'm sitting in the drivers' lounge at the TK in Byron Center waiting for my APU's 'ALT' fault to get fixed. That's a wonderful experience to have when the temp is cold and you're a long way from a building.
It's been a long three days. But I make a drop and pick tomorrow and head for Virginia. Yay! Another state visited. -
You can still use the heat without the apu working....
DenaliDad Thanks this. -
