So I was cruising up I94 last night around lake Michigan and I started thinking the wind gusts might lay me over on my side. With an empty trailer and cross winds what kind of gust would it take?

35 mph sideways will do it on an empty van

Impossible to say exactly, but if you feel loss of control and you are having a hard time keeping it in the lane, time to park it.

    Yes.
I was thinking 35-45 is dangerous when empty.
Even with a heavy load I won't drive in 55 or over. Even if you don't get turned over you could get pushed into the other lane and hit someone.

I have seen a lot of trucks on their side off of I-80. Those guys pulling doubles love to do 100mph down that long steep grade just outside of Evanston !!!

Got into a brutal Sandstorm east of Flagstaff. I had never been so happy to get in a truckstop

Cool video. I gotta say tho. No way is a 35 mph gust blowing over a trailer
