If I recall it cost me like 225.00 per hole. And no block doesn't have to come out of truck. if you have to do more than 1 due all 6. In the long run it will be better and save money to do it right the first time.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Sounds like cheap insurance to prevent future trouble. Do you know how much the tools cost to remove and reinstall the liners?
-
The counterbore tool is around 1100, so if you trust yourself to do it better off buying the tool.
I think that inflatable tool was around 500 for what I have seen of them.areelius Thanks this. -
I would not cut them myself. Too technical for me. But I might do the labor of removing and replacing the liners. What do the liner R and R tools cost? Could they be rented? I saw it done on Youtube and it looks straight forward to me. I think I could even set the liners to the right tolerance.

I'm considering going this route due to horror stories of inframe going wrong. Have you priced a reman yet?
-
Most backyard builders push them out from the bottom with a 2by4and a floor jack.
I think remanufactured are about 17000 -
If that's true then this is a no brainer. I'm sure my high mileage but excellent running engine could be sold for at least 5k to offset that cost?
-
You need to give them your engine as a core or they will charge you an extra $6000 .
But I still say this is the way to go if you have a high mileage engine and plan on keeping the truck for another million.
Less hassle in the long run and new everything. Fast and quick turn around.
3 year 300,000 nation wide Warrenty is hard to beat also. -
Ok so buy a junk engine to give them as a core then sell mine on Craigslist. Got it
Bean Jr. Thanks this.
