Cross winds

In that video they said the wind was gusting at 50-60 mph

I love how the guy in this video points as if we don't know what to look at in this video

Empty 55 might tip you in wyoming depending on what bend you come around and how hard the gust really is.

Ive crossed wyoming from colorado empty at high winds "65 gusts" and i was fine a little rough especially because my truck has front air suspension too other than that it was cool.

35mph winds no

 

In Tampa bay we get gusts of 35 all the time going over the bay bridges. It can get a little unnerving. Would pulling the tandems back when empty help? When we get trailers from Sarasota the guys often pull them back because they cross the skyway. Happens often on yeh summer. I sometimes run empty across Tampa bay and am thinking I might make that an practice in the summer.

 

Seems like it would create better leverage against a side gust. I'm no expert but 35 mph probably not. 50/60 mph much higher chance.

Having been blown over once, almost blown over three times, sliding the tandems back may or may not help, depends on the trailer and the wind. If Wyo. says no light vehicles, I don't go to Wyo., it's not worth the risk. Wyo. is faster to put up warnings than Colo. is, and in some places Colo. has as much of a chance or more so than Wyo. of a blow over.

 

I was in Iowa one day and winds were so bad. I had just dropped. Went to ts for a 10. Parked between 2 trucks and wind was so bad thought would blow us over while parked.

 

45-50 is big DANGER zone empty.

Been very close to being turned over in Nebraska and Colorado before gusting 50+. Seeing your tandems get light under the tires on one side is NO fun.

In Nebraska I had to pull off one time in a large parking lot and aim the truck into the wind when parked top keep it from going over. Pretty ugly...and very lucky.

 

I came across a trailer on its side on I 35 in Iowa one night around midnight, just after a bad storm had blown through. No lights on either the tractor or trailer. It had barely landed off the traveled portion of the road. Why no lights on the truck? It was tipped onto the passenger side. No flare/reflectors set up....no one was around. It was like it was abandoned.

Scared the crap out of me....

Part two of the video, is the driver first prying his fingers off the steering, then prying the seat cushion out of his butt, then changing his shorts, followed calling for a taxi because he just decided flipping burgers at McD's is safer.
