Explain to me your thought process as to why its not necessary to move from the right lane to the middle lane traffic permitting when someone is broke down on the shoulder, especially in a big truck that may stick right out to the white line. Have you ever been the unlucky guy trying to change out a belt or fuel filter under the hood with trucks blowing by you at 70 mph within a few feet?

Nope, not all about me. I already made that quite clear. All about me is the attitude of those who park on the shoulder and expect an entire lane to be shut down out of solidarity for them.

If I'm merging left at 65 MPH or under in traffic, I'm creating a bottleneck and forcing perhaps twenty people behind and to the left of me to react and adjust to what I'm doing. If I stay in the right lane, there's just one guy who doesn't have to do anything but resist the urge to get out of his vehicle and stroll into traffic. B is obviously the safer choice.

Durp..."But what if a wheel flies off your vehicle ? Right at the exact moment you pass me...hanging out on the shoulder shaking my fist at you for not caring about my feelings ?"
In the event of this fourteen billion to one shot..do renegade wheels restrict themselves to one lane ? Does me moving over one lane, or two, or four..create a wheel proof zone of safety for you to luxuriate in ? No and no.

It is obvious that you do not have many miles under your belt. So you don't care if you were on the side and trucks were going by at +60 and one slams into you. Would that change your outlook if you survived.

    A bad dream...

Was running up I80 the other day, came around a bend and had a big truck on the side just inside the fog line. Just as I'm approaching the truck, the drivers side door opens, and he steps down into the road about 18 inches into the granny lane.

Now I'd moved over, because you just don't know what's going to happen in these situations. What if I hadn't, and there was some jerk crowding me from the next lane over? That driver would be seriously injured or worse, maybe a big truck accident if I'd tried to counter steer left...

You get over when approaching something or someone on the side, because you can't control what happens without that extra space.

    Wow!.....The mentality these days!
Who gives a flying rats arse that the traffic behind you may have to slow a little....
It is better than taking out someone and you have to live with that the rest of your life.
Who do you think will go to jail for involuntary manslaughter?
I'm sure the people behind you would tell the cops that you had room to move over but just ran over someone instead.

Kwog,You my friend are a lawyers wet dream! You have much to learn in this industry.

I have drove it into the median before to avoid killing someone as many other drivers have done.
So you are just saying you will hold whatever lane you are in and not try to avoid any collisions?

Remember this truck driver moved over because of a vehicle on the shoulder and held up the barely faster truck that was about to pass him.
