I have a fairly decent gripe about driver's not staying in the 'HAMMER" lane a little bit longer. When you are passing me or any Big truck, stay out there until you clear me. At least 5 truck length's,:biggrin_2558:.

Too many times, driver's get "scared", about being out there too long. Especially when there is a car tail-gateing the crap out of you.......Forget the car and remember that you are passing a $150,000 vehicle,(not counting freight). And also remember I am your Trucking Brother. I think of you before any car on the road!

Where these "new breed" of driver's are learning to pass is beyond me:biggrin_25513:.And they also have thier turn signal on when we are door to door! Whiskey, tango, foxtrot??
I get on the two-way and ask them where they learned that type of behavior at. I usually get no answer, or I'm told to F-off!:biggrin_25512: That don't bother me that much. I can handle that. But what I can't handle is the danger of a 12 yard's in front of me pass........

In conclusion: If I, after all these year's, could pass on one thing, it would be: Use that Hammer lane for all it's worth. Stay out there(even if I don't give you the light's).Learn to pass at a distance, and do not let that $500 tail-gateing toyota, scare you back 12 yard's in my grill.......Thank you for reading:biggrin_25525:

I've had truckers cut right in front of me even when no one is behind them. It's bad enough when two and four wheelers do it. Truckers should know better. But what should be and what actually is are often two different things.

I'm getting a little tired of the "new breed" being blamed for everything. Most of the vets out there are far from perfect. No offense to anybody. That said, I understand your complaint. Oh, and I've got the NRA decal in my window too. ;)

Oh, and the turn signal thing. A lot of driver trainers are teaching that. So it, "lets the four wheelers know we're getting back over so they won't pass on the right." I don't do it now. I didn't come up with it. Just one of the things I was "taught".

Thanks for the comeback on this Dr.V........

I have wondered where this door to door, turn signal thing came from. Now I know it comes from a trainer that is in need of training!:biggrin_2554: Total Barbara Streisand!

One thing I get a lot of us the guys flashin the lights LONG before I feel its safe to pull back in.

When I'm cruisin across I 25 in NM and there is just me and another truck for the immediate 2 mile area I am not about to cut back sooner than I feel comfortable doing.

The thing with trainers is anybody can be one. Roehl only requires six months experience. I'm sure most companies are similar. So bad habits spread like wildfire because of this short time frame.

I'm still new and still learning. I know I see a lot of the newer drivers screwing up and I did/do my fair share too. I'm fortunate enough to have the common sense to realize when I am and correct the problem.

Again, I don't know it's so much the "new breeds" fault as it is a break down in the training. New drivers with bad habits become trainers that pass along the bad habits to students that become trainers and so on.

Granted, there are a lot of veteran trainers out there doing it the right way but they are becoming far outnumbered by the inexperienced guys. The companies wave extra money around, people who have no business training take the offer and the problem repeats itself.

Even the 1 million mile safe drivers aren't always safe. I tend to think a lot of luck is involved with some of them.
