    plus fuel surcharge I hope?

4,000 team miles/week is probably a good number, but 50 weeks/year is very optimistic. I assume you'll want at least 2 weeks off for yourself, and you'll probably also have break downs, road closures, etc.

Perhaps you can be an exception with your mechanical background, but I would not want to team in a random truck with 500k on the odometer -- with 2 drivers downtime costs almost twice as much...

    you're assuming $1.89/gal fuel cost? (4000miles/week x 50weeks / 12months = 16667miles/month)
6.3mpg is probably OK to plan, but I hope a 4,000 mile/week team is doing at least 7.5mpg if hauling dry van

8.6cpm maintenance/repair may be possible with your background, but it seems optimistic for a 500k emissions truck.

Possible, but seems a little low if you run much in higher tax states. Think mine was $1800+

Maybe I'm missing something, but using your numbers, I come up with:

    $17500 gross monthly income
    $7963 costs
    ------
    $9537 EBITDA
    $7630 after tax

What don't I see? Retirement, Office expenses like cell phone, data, computer, printer, stamps, envelopes, fax, accounting software or outsourced fees, hotel/travel expenses, tools, supplies, tolls, parking, etc

and even if it's still a crappy rate.
don't get why people even consider running a truck for so cheap

I've run the numbers for myself and to stay even with my company job I would need to run at about 1.85 on a 100k year equivalent (with a new truck) so man don't sell yourself short running for anyone esp with a team for 1.05 that's just pathetic

Do you plan on paying yourself back for the initial investment? And this shouldn't come from what you are paying for drivers wage.

Been without a IPhone for last month because of static charge in truck when APU fired up same time I was plugging phone in.
Thanks for input. 1.05 is low. But gotta start some where. Comp. Does offer fuel surcharges as long as purchase @ there choice vender.
The P.O.S. ISX 15 gives me 7.1/6.3 aver. MPG with the Eaton crappy Auto 10 shifting @ 1700/2100 RPM. But that's running @ night when it's cooler. With less stop and go b.s. So the 5.5 is a good call.
I will be leasing out to comp on the wild card board with 35/46000 lbs aver.
Office exp. are minimal but over looked none the less. Transflo cost nothing for drivers where I'm at. But all that will change and be adjusted as we evolve.
Down time I need to expand as I sit for 2 days with a new turbo, DEF filter, and a fist full of censors get replaced. This invoice will help with perspective.
Wife will be on the road with me by middle May. With the experienced input from the forum we should have all gears insink within a year.

Buying a truck so he can scrape the bottom of the barrel.

"Hey, if I get the wife on board, and we run team, we can gross $200k!"

And run 200000 miles. Knock yourself out. Odd are you will realize that you netted more money as a solo company driver.

"But Six, I really want to be an owner operator."

Come up with a better plan than to out-bottom the bottomfeeders.

That was kind of my point, but being more polite lol... If I run my total compensation against 100k miles a year my pay = 1.20 a mile as a company driver.... Find a better deal then 1.05

If you think you can do it but make sure you got money put aside for expensive repair I buy 05 freightliner with 440000 miles after running for a month had to replace compressor power steering $3600 aside from other small stuff i repair and I got a headgasket leaking I am losing my as* off right now when I think about it sometime I think it was a mistake better when I was driving for a company no headaches know what my check going to be but I am still trucking hoping it will all work out oh I also run all the # like you did not work out so far the way I plans.
