Please go to Swift or somebody, then see how bad you have had it here. Whiners never cease to amaze me.

 

Why is he complaining about common sense safety stuff?? Does he even consider that as a Walmart driver, you have a bullseye on your back?? Everyone wants to have a lawsuit with Walmart. Also, their stellar safety record is why they are not pulled over all the time for inspections.

Did he honestly come to work here, and not expect common sense rules??

You know, it is funny. A lot of folks complain about how complex it is to get hired. This is a perfect example of why it is what it is. There are folks that fit into the Walmart way. The team player. The person who understands that they are part of a bigger picture, and it isn't just about them. Then there are folks who slip through the cracks, and are not a good fit. One of the drivers hired when Rick was, was one of those people. I think SLM2 is also one of those people. I am sure there are companies that he can drive for, that his being a rebel will fit. Frankly, I think he needs his own authority.

 

He hates his 65 mph truck. Well go somewhere else that you can drive faster then. What a complainer.

 

OK, I'm going to chime in here. Are there rules? Yes. Do they ALL make sense? Nope. Is Walmart a good driving job? Nope, it's a GREAT driving job. My first year, I made $90K. This past year, I hit $100K. Been with them just over 3 years. I have an assigned truck, but I did slipseat a LOT starting out.
Bottom line, there are a few drawbacks, but that is true at any job. This job is easy and the pay is GREAT. Just be a safe, professional driver, and there shouldn't be a problem.

 

I started driving for Walmart October 2015,best decision i ever made, I average 1750$ a week and i dont stress over anything. the only stress is usually weather related.if you want a GREAT job Walmart is the place. every driver here is helpful and respectful,If you have a professional attitude you wont have any problems.Walmart is 100% no touch,you get paid to sleep in the tractor,you get paid if the weathers bad and you have to park the truck,you haves showers in every distribution center,most have cafeterias,most have automatic truck washes,fuel islands,free uniforms,safety day and bonus every quarter,401k match 6% after first year.respect at stores and respect at vendors.if you want the best driving job in the country then you need to apply at Walmart.If you apply and have any questions ill help you the best i can.the hiring process at Walmart takes a long time i applied July 4th and didn't get hired till October.

What should I bring with me if i'm slip seating? Do you guys bring fridge with your food or just eat at DC cafeteria? I never see WM trucks at truck stops, do you all sleep at a DC every night? I dont want to bring too much stuff if I hafta haul it out every couple days! Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

When slip seating we worked really hard to make it as painless as possible. We had a small microwave. While many trucks have them, some do not. If you value a hot meal, then it is very important. Duffel bags with microwavable, non refrigeration needed foods, bars, snacks, fruit. Flat of water. Sometimes he would bring a small cooler when he had things that needed to be refrigerated, such as left overs, lunchables, sandwich fixins, etc. Of course you have your paper towels and cleaning supplies as well as clothing and toiletries.

Even with all of that, due to the fact that Rick is pretty picky about how he leaves a truck, it takes time. The good news is that the DC's have made a concerted effort to minimize the amount of truck changes that you have. When not on his 3 truck 6/2, most of the time he was getting a truck for the whole week.

You will find what works for you. Planning is key. It just makes getting your own truck all that much sweeter when it happens. LOL

 

I wanna leave the truck clean for the next driver as well. Thats how I would want it when I get it! I just wonder if I'm moving out/cleaning while the next driver is waiting? !

 

Very rarely does that happen. I think it happened to Rick once. Since he has had his own truck, it has never happened to him yet.

They are very mindful of this, and try to make sure there is no overlap. The one time it happened had extenuating circumstances that was noones fault.
