I've been driving in the food grade industry for about four years now. While the pay is alright, I've been reading stories/accounts of fuel hauling driver getting paid in the upwards of the $80,000+ range in some areas.
My goal is to finally bring home enough money for a few years to get the pickup truck paid off and ease into another line of work without feeling too cash-strapped.I've tried UPT, Loves, Pilot/Flying J, Locomotive Services Inc, Groendyke, and even Coastal.
Apparently they saw a rollover that was now eight years old and they pretty much tossed out my application on each try. At this point, I'm left with companies I'm seeing as I go between Clovis and Perryton each day. Griffin fuel, Toot'n'Tootum, and even this other one I aw called FAST that delivers fuel to Stripes and affiliated stations.
I'm not entirely sure what their hiring standards are. But I just want to be able to break out of the earnings bracket I'm in right now while still sticking to a daycab, tanker related job. Also, if the company has an option of transferring to say, AZ, CA, or even OR(specifically Portland metro) then that would definitely be a plus.
Going on four years living out here in eastern NM/west TX and the country/cowboy culture is driving me insane.
Getting a fuel hauling job with an eight year old rollover.

How about getting a new license from another state, new CDL, new record..?
Is that even possible? -
And also with the FMCSA PSP records, changing your license doesn't really do anything to cover the information up.
I switched from CA to NM and I'm still getting flack for the accident despite how old it is.
It's mainly an insurance policy like other posters have mentioned in other threads.truckthatpassesyouby Thanks this. -
You sure it's just the rollover? Seems like after 5 years nobody really cares anymore, within reason.
Maybe try doing tankwagon for a year to get your foot in the door, so to speak. -

Get a free copy from hireright & copy of your psp report so you can see what they are seeing. After 5 years everything is pretty straight after that unless you transported drugs or killed somebody.

It's not extremely vital as I made it sound, but I was just trying to squeeze a little more out of the industry.
As far as the ten year thing is concerned, it is getting closer to the point where I could drop that Swift accident off entirely.
For now though, the route I'm doing is at least allowing me to hit a couple of classes each week while still putting in 5-6 days of work a week.
As far as getting moved back west is concerned, I may start hitting up WalGreens, Autozone types of places, or any other local delivery chain where I could still work the late night/early AM thing.
