I emailed Bob's this morning about my dilemma, asking if there was anything else I could do. The answer was, if you can't mount on the mirror arm, nope.

He might be right about the mirror arm being your only option. He probably doesn't have any more of those brackets that bolt to the back of the cab or the antennas that mount in the back of the cab but that tall one on his display would be the best one to mount to the mirror bracket on the driver side of the truck.

Why don't you call Predator and see if they will make you a really long lower shaft? You can change the lower shaft or top or coils if you want.
By doing this you maybe able to get the coil high enough behind the cab and just tune in a short stinger.
    Just a thought.
I know if you were able to mount it on the mirror bracket you could tune it down to 1:1 with the 27" lower shaft with the antenna as straight as possible.
Been there done it on a friend's cascadia.

    darthanubis Thanks this.

You need to go over your GTM's head on this. There is no substantiated evidence that a 2-bolt bird perch mount will damage the mirror mounting or the door.

The single piece ones that just replace one of the mirror bolts definitely will, if you put a big/heavy antenna on them, because the wind blows the antenna back, exerting a rotational force to the right, which keeps tightening it down until it's finally way overtorqued and strips out the threads in the door (because the door is aluminum, and those single piece mounts are stainless steel.) Obviously the bracket type using 2 bolts does not have this problem, and will never damage the door. This also only applies for the driver's side. When used on the passenger side, the single piece mount for the mirror or the top of the door will be just fine, because the rotational force exerted by wind blow-back will be to the left(y loosey). In that case, just use a fiberglass antenna or a 102 whip and you'll be fine.

I had my 27" lower mast Predator on the driver door, apparently tuned to 1.1:1 and it was doing great. Since I trimmed the stinger, I can't exchange it.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I am leaning towards telling him I'll sign an agreement accepting financial responsibility for any damage my antenna does to the door. If he still says no, I'll request a conference call with the director of fleet maintenance.

Walmart? Yeah, you *really* need to go over your GTM's head.

I can't tell you how many Walmart trucks I see with bird perch mounts. Far too many to keep count.

When they get ice on them they can twirl around and smack the truck.
