I checked my bp today at those free health machines in walmart 149/83. Now i have a lot of stress in my life with family and i just had an argument about 30 minutes before i went to walmart so i'm sure that had something to do with the higher reading. I know those machines aren't accurate either.

Anyway my question is I read/hear about you can get a 1 year or even a 3 month medical card if you are above 140/80 any other threads i read if you are over 140/80 it's an automatic fail.

    Anybody know?

For the past week or two i've been eating a lot more healthier. I grind up at least 2 tablespoons of fresh flax seed and mix it in my meals. I have done this for 4 days now. I ate about 10 bananas in a week and i'm drinking lots more water. With that i am still eating some bad foods but not all the time. I guess i should say i'm adding healthy foods into my diet but not really changing the bad foods i eat mainly frozen pizza i never eat out at fast food.

i have high blood pressure controlled by medicine and I'm working on the weight but when I go take my test, I eat extremely healthy for the 3 days prior. That means very low sodium choices all the way around, lots of water, no caffeine or alcohol. Basically no fun. But it works, my bp is always low usually under 120/80. Now if I could just do that every single day, haha

It's really more about weight. Not what whether you eat 10 bananas a week.

    ^^^^^
Ok, turns out my opinion is completely incorrect. Ignore it.

You sure you don't mean 140/80? anything over 80 diastolic is prehypertension.

I ended up with a 3 month certification because I couldn't get my prescription filled and the top number was OVER 150, I refilled my prescription and recertified for a 1 year certificate, the nurse told me that had my top number been over 150 , i'd only be certified for 3 months again, my bottom number over 90 and under 100

What you might consider is having your doctor prescribe bp medicine.then you'll feel more confident about passing.
