Yes sir, I am
-
I got a question about idling.
I am getting written up for excessive short term idling. As I understand it is considered short term if you idle for less than two hours.
Suppose you are in your truck idling away then all of a sudden you got to go to the bathroom but you have only been there for 90 minutes. Should you just leave the truck running while you go into the truck stop or wherever?
Also we do not have automatic trailer inflating tires on our account, won't that count against our time limit to idle when we are inflating low tires? That can take a long time depending on how many tires are bad. Usually if one tire is low then the rest are going ot be as well.
Yes I asked my dispatcher these things but he was not that familiar yet with the whole idling subject.
Is there anyway around this? It is just frustrating. -
Well you should never leave your truck unsecured, also they shouldn't give you crap about idling let alone write you up for it l, that's BS. I'm sure his office has AC all day, I know mine does.
I'm actually moving on from JB Hunt to be a driver again, I found another company that pays hourly.
I will speak very candidly because I am no longer in fear of getting fired. Is jb hunt as evil as they portray? I don't think it is. There are a lot of things the drivers do that they don't get paid for which I don't think is fair. Also companies like them are putting a lot of good companies out of business because they undercut them but that's capitalism.
At my terminal too many variables were controlled by individuals, what I mean by that is you could get tons of loads with one planner and sit for a long time with another planner because he is a lot lazier. Same for the fleet managers.
I was suprised at how few my drivers actually check their pay and the breakdown on how they get paid every week. My best advice is check your pay every week, errors can be made and you can lose money if you're not on top of things. I'd say my terminal was pretty driver friendly overall. -
I got a buddy from cdl school that has been working at jb hunt intermodal for almost two years now. He really likes it, gets by the house once or twice a week and is home on the weekends. Never once has really complained about pay either. I think he works out of the Iowa terminal. He loves it.

I spent 1 year as an operations supervisor (same thing as a FM) on DCS feed account. 1 year is all I could take. I think watching a day care is easier than 20 truck drivers. Who ever thought local dudes going home everyday can cry worse than my 5 year old son
I too am back in the truckduckdiver and TrooperCat Thank this. -

What terminal are you a fm for?
