Well said! :3some: Bravo old chap :occasion5:

I hear the same thing from the company drivers that tell me why they want to be ic. I can't tell you the number of times I've been passed by an ic that was doing 75 or 80 and they look so stressed as they fly by. They don't want to listen to reason :banghead:

SFI has now made it harder to get on this program by instituting a $2,500 down payment on a Freightliner... You may still be able to get 10 down on a used one but maybe not... They are sick and tired of these drivers jumping over here and two months later saying the heck with it and turn on the trucks back in... They figure invest money into a truck you're staying for the long term with the truck and do what you're supposed to do

You misunderstood me and yes more loads always means more money i.e. 6 100 mile loads that pay 500 a piece is 3000$ right? But if you can only run 5 of those because you are watching every penny per gallon running at 55 mph then you make 2500 I make 3000 and in 600 miles you might have a fuel cost 30$ less than mine I still made 470$ more than you. I never focus on miles only on revenue and believe it or not you must in today's electronic log Era be able to distinguish when 3 tenths of a gallon of fuel savings is actually costing you money. Your time is just as valuable as mpg.

They probably weren't properly prepared to run their own business in the first place. On the other hand I will fly by you without a care in the world because I've done my homework and planned accordingly

I can run 2200 mi a week and gross $4k and take take home nearly a $1mi to my bank..you won't be doing that running 70mph..I guarantee it.

And furthermore let's break it down...shall we?
Joe runs 2500 miles a week at 55 mph and gets 8 mpg and has an average rate of 1.50 cpm

    Jack runs 3150
miles a week at 70 mph and get 7 mpg has an average rate of 1.50 cpm
And let's say fuel is 2$ a gallon

    Joe makes 3750
    Jack makes 4725
    Both worked 45 hours
Now taking into consideration what was said earlier about fuel cost and maintenance cost running faster. It was said it would cost 25k more a year. Right?
    Okso...
    Joe makes 3750×52=195k
    Jack makes 4725×52=245,700
    245,700-25,000=220,700
Jack still makes 25,700 more than joe for the same hours worked!
So you see your time is just as valuable as pennies per gallon.
Oh and I do get 7mpg at 70mph all day long if you're wondering

    Kersey Thanks this.

I get 7.2mpg at 70 all day long and you take 5 days to do that 2200 miles right?
I would do that in 3 and a half days have another day and a half to run and with your numbers would gross 6k+. Don't get me wrong I agree if fuel is 4$ a gallon I'll probably be drafting off you but...with the cheap fuel right now time is money!

Ok I've done both, running 64 for a month vs running 68-70, the difference to me is not anything that makes or breaks my paychecks. If you run good lanes its easy to get atleast 1 more trip in during a week vs running slow and make way more money with the extra trip than few bucks for fuel. Last 4 months I've been running 68-70 and my MPG is 7.6 so going slow doesn't mean better MPG. Every truck is different and alot of trucks preform better at faster speeds than 60.
