How to enter trucking????

    Hey all... I am looking for a career change... I am a teacher and want to move into trucking... looking for advice here.

    First step is to get your class a driver license. You can either enroll in a community college and pay the $4,000 or so tuition. Avoid the private schools as they tend to not be a 160 hour program and their tuition is higher.

    Or you can go to a trucking company school and work for them and you can work for them for a year and that cancels the tuition payment to them , I.e., you work off the tuition. If you leave before the year is up you owe them the balance. Have seen where they charge up to $6,000 for tuition.

    Is it possible to self study and enter the profession by purchasing a truck or is truck driving school mandatory?

    I hate teaching... why would you suggest trucking is a bad option?

    for me teaching is not really teaching anymore...it has become a field a facilitation...and you facilitate kids who are forced to be in school... I love history... i love learning... but learning is a two way street. Kids know that discipline is severely limited therefore they will not listen to you if you can not form a deterrent or punishment...and now... you can't punish kids... no kid is allowed to be left behind which creates a bad situation in classrooms
