Yeah i'm aware of bp medicine but i don't have health insurance and i really rather not take any meds. Since i'm borderline pre hypertension range i'm sure i can do it by change of diet and more exercise. Today is the 7th day in a row i've been taking two tablespoons of ground flax seed mixed in my meals and eating bananas. Gonna keep it going until i start this trucking career sometime in march.

Cut the salt and processed foods in those meals and you should be able to do it if you are only borderline. Is there a clinic or blood donation place you can go in and ask them to check your BP for free?. Those machines in stores can't be relied on.

Whenever I have to go in for a physical I
1. Schedule it for as early in the morning as possible
2. Stay as relaxed as possible that morning
3. Don't drink any coffee before the physical.
I get a two year card every time. If I don't do these things I can only get a one year card. I don't know jack about numbers. -
I like your start with making a diet transition. However, don't stop once you pass the physical. Continue it until it becomes a habit. Pretty soon you may discover that your sense of taste will change. That's what happened to me. Particularly sweet things are something I used to crave, but now I can't stand. It's a process, one snack or meal at a time.bottomdumpin Thanks this.

First of all, don't trust those stupid store machines. They are often out of calibration. Go to a clinic and just ask them to check your blood pressure and get more than one reading. If it's above, ask to see a Dr and get a prescription. I don't have insurance. The Dr was $150 and the meds were $65 which I could have gotten a lot cheaper had i done research. I also could have found a place where I wouldn't have been charged so much, but I didn't want to search.
The meds were simple and no side effects and dropped it in 3 days. I'm easily under the 140/90 limit.
But I really need to lose weight. I hit 270 recently. Its frustrating because I don't eat that much to begin with. I know I can eat better and I watch my sodium, but I swear I can gain weight from just drinking water and eating lettuce -
I just noticed after looking through 3 months of medical history on my insurance site that I've had prehypertension the whole time and it wasn't mentioned to me once. I assumed if they take my BP and don't say anything then I'm good.
I wonder why? I was in a bad motorcycle accident and had some broken bones, the BP readings are all after that, plus a LOT of stress from subsequent job loss and home drama. Aside from that though I'm thinner and fitter than ever, my diet is decent (probably too much sodium), my weight is within BMI for the first time in my post-preteen life. It seems like a strange time for this to pop up? Can stress and a recovering body do that? -
The official word from the FMCSA is that a driver will be disqualified with a consistent blood pressure reading of 180/110. The blood pressure reading shown in the original post could result in a certification period of one year.

Ethnicity and family history also play a significant part in Hypertension in addition to sodium, alcohol, caffeine and nicotine intake. There are many people at their ideal weight who have hypertension, similarly you get some really obese people who have normal BP.
It isn't really worth wondering why you have it, just work on reducing or eliminating all the lifestyle habits that can contribute to it and if those don't work seek further medical treatment. -
I went to Rite Aid today to pickup stuff and i checked my bp at their machine and now it's 130/87. Yes i know they aren't accurate just saying.
