That's a real good deal. Just gotta be patient. I know a guy who was a road driver there. He couldn't stick it out because they weren't working him enough. It seems like city drivers there are a little safer in that respect.

Maybe.........but somebodies got to move the freight.

i remember i worked the dock one day (couldn't stand it) at CF (consolidated freight). This paid a little over $15 at the time! And this was in 1995! i think that was the most money i made in one day up to that point.

Local drivers are much safer then the road. They are outsourcing a lot of road runs now to Owner operators and the Covenants of the world. At full rate there are more then a few city drivers making 100k a year and being home everyday and weekends. That's $27 and some change an hour and time a half after 8. At 60 hours per week you are around 100k yearly. Sure beats OTR driving on a 1099 at .40 cpm.

And that's one of the few advantages of this job:

    1) i don't have to worry if i'm going to be able to find a parking spot in a truckstop----there is a space reserved for me each night. There were many times when i ran OTR where i had to keep driving---a few times over hours, because there weren't any spaces.

    2) i'm off EVERY night. i haven't slept this good since i don't know when........

    3) Weekends completely off---from Friday night to Monday morning. None of this Saturday afternoon to Sunday night crap.

    4) i get to sleep in my own bed everynight. Although some of those sleepers are pretty comfortable especially if you have an APU, but then you have to contend with the "neighbors."

    5) i get to use my own shower, which is not the cleanest right now, but it's mine.

You mean, being local is safer than being on the road.

At least, I hope thats what you meant.

I do SERIOUSLY HOPE that the trucking companies that have the teamsters representing their workers continue to earn enough profit, to continue paying their workers these EXCELLENT wages.

    WOW!!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

This latest check is not a good indication of what i make per week on average coz we had a snow day---thus only worked 4 days in that week.
