No doubt, you would think to keep good drivers companies would wanna work with drivers rather then against them. But unfortunately they don't care. There's not awhole lot of drivers that like this industry at all or their job.I use to think of truck driving as a career but now it's nothing more then a job.
Judgment call

We have let this happen....
The freight used to be regulated and paid by the weight
Our wages were pretty much set in stone at one time and trucking was a career to be respected
Then in 1985 Ronald Reagan ordered deregulation on the freight
Half the drivers sided with Reagan and the other half said "no way" we had a nation wide truckers strike that lasted about two weeks drivers were shooting the windshields out on the drivers that insisted on running with the deregulation freight and now today 30 yrs later we are starting to see the results of this deregulation and we still have drivers that will defend these slime balls for reasons unknown
... "so how low can you go"?Last edited: Feb 25, 2016
LindaPV, rocknroll81, Toomanybikes and 2 others Thank this. -
Good for you, hand. You're the captain of the ship and unless you're hauling a transplant heart trucking is not a life or death situation unless you make it such.
These new guys seem to forget there is no such thing as 'forced dispatch' regardless of what paperwork they make you sign.
Worst case scenario - Unemployment
I'd take that anyday over hurting some innocent motorist or myself.snowlauncher, rocknroll81, mjd4277 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've had companies tell me "you have to run regardless of weather" my response has always been, if you think you can force me to run unsafe from your seat! Good luck, if this me wanting to stay safe is out of line, when road conditions improve, I can certainly bring this truck back to the terminal, usually I don't get a response back, but fortunately I've only had to deal with that a couple of times
snowlauncher, Jasongrimes36 and pattyj Thank this. -
if I had an unreasonable dispatcher I would say I tell you what, you get out here and show me how it's done.that usually shut them up.snowlauncher and Jasongrimes36 Thank this.

I believe he meant that the owner told him that he didn't need him as a driver any longer and to bring the truck back.Jasongrimes36 Thanks this.

not surprised, most companies like this one doesn't work with drivers but takes the easy way out and more or less fires them. How companies keep making profits after a driver quits or gets fired and no fault of their own is other drivers have to pay the price by having money taken out of their checks for one reason or another.Jasongrimes36 and Puppage Thank this.

Have you not read the new law on Coercion ,if you had call recorder on your phone records all phone calls , you could file whistle blower complaint and have the owner fined $16,000.00 and get some money to boot. I would have had his ### under the bus back up pulling forward
Toomanybikes, Jasongrimes36 and mjd4277 Thank this. -
They'll attempt to replace an experienced driver with a newer driver and bully him into driving in dangerous conditions, if he wrecks it they'll just say he should've known better
Jasongrimes36 and superflow Thank this. -
Guess I'm fontunate. It is absolutely my call in bad weather.
Jasongrimes36 Thanks this.
