I am Thinking about buying a 2001 Freightliner truck which has an automatic transmission. Does anyone has any experience with the machine and if it is reliable for doing local (300 miles a day). If so please let me know.

Does it have a Allison automatic transmission, or one of the auto shift transmissions, from that vintage, if it has 2 pedals, it is probably an Allison, 3 pedals is most likely some version of auto shift. The Freedomline was the first 2 pedal auto shift, and now there is the Ultra shift in 10 and 13 speed.
The Freedomline was available in 12 and 16 speeds.
Reliability depends on how much used it is and how good was the maintenance. The full automatic would be good for city driving, and lots of stops. -
I'm thinking it may look something like this autoshift with the three pedal config:

It is perfect for those miles everyday, coastal transport operates with only autoshift macks..
