As long as you're willing, able and ready to work hard, System will treat you pretty good. Been talking with some friends who've been telling me people we know got fired, and it was, frankly predictable. Guys who don't pay attention, guys who don't want to do the job. (Like not tarping a Kaiser Aluminum load, which is so stupid I can't even begin to describe it).
Other than that, they'll cut you slack on minor stuff as long as it isn't constant. They pay decent, the equipment is ok, new but well, there's better out there. But you can make the 660s pretty homey with a little imagination and I hear the Pete 579s are VERY nice.
They will take darn near anyone and give them a shot. Work hard, do what they tell you, especially on securement. -That's one area where I am in total agreement. -A driver who skimps on flatbed securement NEEDS to get fired, before he kills someone-
And you will have a pretty good experience.
I had great dispatch, terrific driver support from John and Teri in logs, decent help from Raod Service (Depends on who you get) and a solid paycheck pretty much every week. Worked my butt off for it, but it was there and mostly felt well-supported.
I'd be back there now, but physically, I just m not sure I can do flatbed anymore. Just too prone to injury and it's not worth it it to go and then after three months be on another OJI claim.

If they closed French camp then where do drivers park on home time? Can they take the truck home now?

Rugerfan Thanks this.

This thread hasn't had much activity lately but I wanted to share my thoughts.
I finally got into a truck. It took a while but I'm not going to complain.
I've had a good experience running Texas regional so far, even with freight in Texas being as bad as it is they've kept me moving.
I'm home every weekend for the most part, usually a full Saturday and Sunday and still getting 2k+ miles a week.
The Texas regional dispatchers were laid off for reasons that I'm still not aware of. All of us are now being dispatched from the crew in KC. There were some hiccups during the transition, but for me it has gone well enough.
Friends of mine aren't having as much luck, but they live outside of the major cities. I imagine this plays a role.
The only issue that I've had is they're screwing with my safety record. After swapping loads I found a "dropped trailer with blown tire" note on my safety jacket. After many calls I've still yet to have this explained... They tried to claim that an on the road tire issue was my fault as well. However, I got this resolved.
Sometimes the route suggestions are a compete joke, adding lots of unpaid miles to your trip, but every company has its qwerks.
Overall I'm pretty happy. The trucks are in pretty good condition, staff is friendly except for that one person in road service, other drivers on the fleet are good guys. But if I keep having issues with safety, I might be considering a change.
Hope everyone is safe and doing well.
Oh and as someone else mentioned, you'll work your butt of for good paychecks, but if you're away from home why not work hard? I've also noticed the guys who complain a lot tend to be the same guys who sit a lot.Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
Yea the one person in road service I've ran into that issue

I picked up a trailer in Laredo with no mudflap and it shows bad on my record as well even though I'm the one who had it replaced.
-
Are you guys sending in your trailer inspections once you pick up a new trailer?
-
I've never sent one. But they told me about the flap missing before I even was there to pick up the trailer.

Use Mac 32 every time you pick up a new one if not the next guy will just call road service and put the issue on you
