Thanks Tom !! And yes, I am very proud of my husband. I know where we were, and where we are now. I know how hard he worked to get this, and how hard all of you guys worked for this. The sacrifices were HUGE, but it is like this is the pay-off. We so much appreciate this time in our lives, because we went through so much before we got here.

Hey all, I wanted to ask a question although I'm sure it's been covered already somewhere in here. I just applied to the Pottsville PA DC and I've only been able to talk to one driver out on the road so far. I want to know how the slip seat works? Do you slip seat until you get an assigned truck and then you're the only one driving that truck? Or is it a constant slip seat situation? I'm asking for obvious reasons. I'm not too keen on curling up on someone else's bed. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about having someone else in my space while I'm home. The compensation package will more than likely over ride any lingering uneasiness I have about the situation, but I'd still like to have an idea of how it works. Of course, I may not even get a call lol. Thanks in advance!

It will be that you always slip seat. When you are assigned a truck that is the one you will drive, but when your off someone else will drive it. When you don't have an assigned truck you could be put in multiple trucks during the week. The only trucks that don't have others driving them are the 3 million milers.

Just to expand on what FMFDoc said, yes you may be in multiple trucks during the week. However, the DC's are making a concerted effort to keep you in the same truck all week. Before Rick got his own truck last Sept, and before he started the 3 truck 6/2, he rarely had to switch trucks. That seemed to start in earnest in the fall of 2014.

Once you have your own truck, someone may use it when you don't. However, there have been many many weeks where noone has used Rick's truck.

If the someone else sleeping on your bed bothers you, keep a mattress cover with you. When Rick was slip seating, all he used was a sleeping bag. That way he was never sleeping on someone else's bedding. Of course he always has his own pillow with him.

    Hope that helped. :)

Is the pre trip inspection test like the CDL test in that you only cover parts once? While performing the pre trip inspection test for the state of IN you only went down the drivers side and then simply said that you would check the passenger side the same as the driver side (except for the engine). Thanks.
