    I just can't get the diagonal angle approach.

    Also, in all these backing videos, there is never a solid reference given.

    What I have found...

    If I come in nice and tight, and straight/perpendicular to the line I am going to back into.

    I count off 7 spaces... Stop at the point where I am looking out the driver window, directly over the line separating spot 7 and 8.

    Hard right, get it angled in, and guide.
    Roll forward with straight wheel only 3-5 feet to reduce angle as needed.

    Of course parking lots and warehouse yards are the the only places that you will have solid reference points.

    First few months my DM kept reminding me. But he gave up.

    I don't send the message, but I do get down frequently if it's tight or blind.
