Was a company driver with TransAm for about a year and a half. Left TA Dec. 2014.

I always tried to chat up other TA drivers when doing a swap. No exaggeration, about 90% had less that 6 months experience with TA. I would be surprised and every once in awhile, a driver would tell me they had been with TA a good number of years. I think the longest I met was an older Afro-American driver who told me he had been with TA for 13 years.

I'm still here, Hick. I only hide occasionally.....sometimes even I run out of hours! :biggrin_25523: I have been keeping busy but I still try to keep track of everyone. I have been doing some writing, doing some research and helping (in the background) with some political campaigns. There are days that I am just flat out tired of...and have run out of words........You men quit rollin' your eyes and singing Hallelujah!:biggrin_25516: It is possible for a female to run out of words! It doesn't happen often but it does happen!:biggrin_25522:

The King was with TransAm as a company driver for 3 1/2 years and left in July of 2013. There were several at that time that had been with them for a number of years.

jaso37, Hick and passport220 Thank this.

Yup, I think it happened before in 17 BC or somewhere around there, didn't it? :D

So there's no current drivers posting now? Oh well. Good to see you old coots are still in the seat, anyhow.

I know the lady that does orientation was a lease op for like 4 years and the guy that drives the bus has been here for a long time.

On Friday I talked to a driver that's been here 6 years. That's the longest I've found that still drives here.

    jaso37 and HometimeQueen Thank this.

gntorres61 - George was the last man standing in our group, he has the most recent experience with TA. When we all or most of us where active with TA it worked out well to help each other, experienced drivers or bringing the newest drivers up to speed. I will always be grateful for the help I got here to start my trucking career.

I have talked to and invited other TA drivers to get involved with this group but never saw them actually come around. If you can get some current drivers, drivers in your group to start an active thread / chat / online group, here or in a place of your own choosing, it REALLY can be helpful.

gntorres61, jaso37, Hick and 3 others Thank this.

I figure that 90% of TA drivers know about this site, and at least half of them have seen this topic.

I think after reading up on TA, these people get a taste in their mouth to jump ship ASAP and aren't really interested in making the most out of their time here learning the ropes. Even this thread itself promotes that attitude a few times.

And then if they do stay past the time they thought they would have bailed by, they pretty much have the system figured out and really have no need to chat about it on the internet or care about helping people out (not that's there is really anyone to help for the above reason).

    HometimeQueen and passport220 Thank this.

This makes me sad, Hick, because actually everything on here was to encourage a new driver to make the most of their time at TransAm, to help them maximize their paycheck while they were there, and then ....yes....to move on to better pay and benefits if they so desired. TransAm is a starter company and is geared toward that end. Most drivers will want to move on from that to make a better paycheck eventually.
I guess it is typical of the attitude of some of the drivers coming into the industry at this time.....they read but do not really comprehend what is being said. TransAm is a good place to begin your career and learn....the pay is designed to accommodate that experience...we have said that repeatedly.....but all they see is "I will be jumping ship". They seem to forget about the learning part of it. :biggrin_25513: They are the ones that will not be driving a year from now....and it will all be someone else's fault. Discouraging.....:biggrin_2557:
