Those are nice trucks. I've got a couple of them and they are good workhorses. I drove one to SC and back over the weekend and left the long nose at the shop. Got 6.8 mpg round trip loaded both ways. There are a few wind noises and squeaks but you just turn up the jukebox and fade them out. Good luck!

Alright, picked up a load of Tarpped bricks about 30 miles from last delivery. ( 49200# yuk) driving across iowa back to Illinois. Idled about 2 hours this morning. Just fueled up on 851 miles to the tune of 7.04 mpg.

Trailer lights still giving me trouble but I have the wireing harnes zip tied "just so" to get them working reliably. I ordered a new splitter as its all chafed and coroded.

Noticed it driped a couple of drops out of the overflow hose at the first delivery. I did overfill the tank a bit thinking it would suck it in when I burped it but didn't take much. I presure tested the cap and was having a hard time with the cap. I figured it was just me with a new pressure tester. I guess not, the cap doesent seem to be holding very little or nothing. Not sure the presure the cap should hold? I could only get like 5 lbs out of it. I thought they should be like 13 lbs?

The stupid windshield squiters keep getting clogged. I cleaned out the tank and hoses shortly after the purchase but they are all full of mud agian. Got them blown back out tonight and drained and refilled agian. We will see?

Truck seems to be running fine. With this heavy load I'm wishing for that 13 spd. In top gear at 65 at just a tick over 1500 rpm. Have not seen egt go over 900 deg. Highest boost I have seen was about 32 lbs. temps are running 190 to 200 and the fan has only come on once.

So far so good. Still a few rattles and whistles I'm working on, like you mentioned. Had to disconnect one of the speakers as it was blown so bad and driving me nuts!!!!

Thanks for the intrest guys. image.jpg
    Stupid bricks!!!!!

Also going to have to look at the cab suspension a little closer. It seems as though it's not suspending. Lol. It moved when I was puting in the motor mounts in but seems to not be moving now? Maybe that would help with some of the rattles? There is air in the bags and it looks like it's in the middle of its stroke but I don't know?

Like the guy I'm leased onto says.... Welcome to owing your own truck!

Decent fuel economy I wouldn't worry about the coolant just watch it. I would also make sure you get the correct psi cap if you are unsure call the dealer. If it over pressure can cause head gasket and other issues. Had a tractor that got a wrong cap installed after a service and pushed antifreeze and lucky enough got it figured out ran the cap loose and never had a problem again and replaced the cap with the right psi

So, delivered my load of bricks wendsday morning and found I had a air leak on a trailer bag. Weather was moving in so I hi tailed it to the house about 50 miles away. Spent the rest of wendsday changing bag, a brake chamber, wireing harness and a new radiator cap. I was worried about the colant being pushed out so I bought a "combustion gas tester" to check for hydrocarbons in the colant. Tested it this morning and all signs show good. Of cource I monkey with one of the hose clamps and now IT'S leaking a bit.

Picking up 19500# in Peoria IL headed to Reno Nevada for Monday delivery. 1st week was a bit of a bust with 2 days of not great weather and not loading until Monday at noon but, still about what I expected for the shake down week.

At least you don't have some crazy 2000/ month note. You're going about it the right way. Just keep a tool box with you and a good attitude. You'll be fine.

We run a International like that, unfortunately newer so more fuel robbing gismos, but sounds like cab shocks like ours was. Also if you don't keep the top prong that sticks out from just under the windshield that the hood rests on and prevents side to side movement greased/oiled etc. you will get a lot of noise/creaks from that. Helps big time. I spray Fluid Film on it every once in a while

Made it to Sinclair Wyoming. 6.52mpg on the last full up with some serious headwind for the last 150 miles. I got to haul hinny tomarow to get to Reno and will probably idle tonight. Let's see how bad a fuel economy I can get on this tank?
