I used to prefer the J, but since they cut the menu back the only choice you have is the buffet. I'm trying to LOSE weight, not gain it. At least they've finally revamped the buffet a bit. Lately it's been (in order) TA, Petro, J, Loves, Pilot. I hate Pilot because I'm tired of eating Wendy's, Subway, and Arby's. I base my choices on how much parking, and how good the food is.

    Amen to that!

The Bears Den Trading Post and Truckstop. It's eight miles north of Massena on rt 37 on the Mohawk Indian Reservation. I stop there if I'm picking up at Alcoa. Decent food at great prices. I got a free shower and I didn't even get fuel.

It's really hard to choose a favorite brand, because no brand is the same at every location.

Example, Petros are generally nice places, until you try the one in North Little Rock. First and only time I had a LL knock on my truck. I haven't been back since.

Same holds true for every brand. Some are clean decent places, others are dingy and dirty. I choose based on individual location (I make notes in my truck stop guide, so I'll remember which ones I like) not based on brand.

I Would Have To Say My Favorite Truckstop By Chain Brand Would Be The Tesoros Out West Or A Ta With A Country Pride But Best Of All It Would Have To Be The Kicks 66 Off I-44 Catoosa Exit Coming Into Tulsa Good Food, Clean Showers, And The Best Tv Room I Have Ever Seen A Big Screen And "real Furniture" I Wish They Could All Be Like That

Now My Least Favorite Would Be The Flying J Takes Forever To Fuel, They Will Always Be Packed, And They Have About The Feel Of A Wal-mart Supercenter But In Their Defense I Like Their Breakfast Buffet But Other Than That Flyin J Can Take A Flyin Hump

I've been to lots of flyin' j's, and never could understand why people think so much of them. To me, it's just another truck stop.
I've been to a lot of truck stops that were really nice. Very clean, friendly people, good choices for restaurants.
And, i've been to some that should be run completely out of business. Dirty, employees with attitudes, and just plain nasty.
I've learned which ones to avoid, and I have my favorites. Doesn't matter what the sign says. If I like it, I like it. Be it a Love's, Pilot, T/A, or whatever.

Remembering what truck-stops used to be like I find it difficult to call a Flying J a truckstop. I think of them as more of a glorified 7-11. After visiting one I came to the conclusion they are patronized by masochists seeking the punishment they think they so richly deserve.
