Soon I'll be eligible for Medicare and am curious about gap insurance.

I'm single and still working a little, not much overhead.

Any "senior" guys care to share some advice?

Depending on your health and ability to pay, look at the "N" and "F" plans.
With the "N" plan, you pay the part B(Doctor) deductible, currently $161 and have a copay for doctor/emergency visits. You are also responsible for excess fee's as allowed by medicare. These are a crap shoot, so you never know what they might be.
"F" plans have no deductible and no copay's and all excess charges are covered. You have NO out of pocket expense's except the premium.
I started out with the "N" plan because i only went to the doctor a couple of times a year and the premium was $40 cheaper per month than the "F" plan. I changed this year to the "F" plan because i am going to have my knees worked on(Surgery) and it will be more cost effective.
Medications are covered by a separate part "D" plan
Every state has their own premium list but the Medicare plans are the same across the nation.
This is where you can start looking for information about plans in your state.

    https://www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan/questions/medigap-home.aspx

    This is the government website.
Some people want a medicare advantage plan so you can look at those too. They are better for some than others.

You will have your medicare deducted from you SS check if you are drawing SS benefits. You can have your supplemental also deducted but i pay my premium myself.
You will receive an information packet from medicare about 4 months before your 65th birthday. This allows you time to decide what you want to do.
It takes a while to sift through the plans to choose what best fits you, but there are only a few choices really. The more complicated choice is choosing which insurance company to buy from. I found that the monthly prices varied wildly for the exact same coverage.
