I'm curious how many of the companies are honest about their rates. If it's anything like the oil fields you can have two guys doing the same job and one of the companies is lying to his driver about the rates and one guy is making five times as much as the other doing the same job simply because one of the companies is skimming off the top before they pay the percentage.

That's why you only do % at companies that give you a copy of the load confirm...

I guess it would depend on the level of honesty you feel the company projects.

How do you get a copy of the load confirmation? Is this typical for the driver to ask for the load confirmation or would most companies not want to share what they are making as a company?

Should the company be offering it to you or should you be asking?

New to this so questions may seem VERY broad.

At our company they usually include it with the dispatch, but you can ask.

I don't like it and I will tell you why. I started out 3 months ago with a flatbed company that paid 23% of the gross to the truck. It sounded like a good deal till I started seeing my checks. Some checks were $600 a week net then some would be $800 net a week. I never knew what I was going to make. I had to run outlaw to make that money but that's a different topic.

I ended up quitting and I found a great company that a friend of mine worked for. Now I'm making 40 cpm running hopper bottom and I can run legal and get 3200 miles a week and bring home $1200 a week gross. I always know what I'm going to make. Point being no matter what the rate the company is getting I am always going to make 40 cpm.

Sounds like they didn't have the business to pay what you should be getting paid.
