Hello! So I was driving my otr refrigerated knight transportation truck through the grapevine in cali when I got a phone call from United Road. They said they processed my application and I can do OTR out of there Ohio terminal.... Told the lady I would call back because my brain froze lol. I didn't know what to ask so i'll ask you guys.

Does company otr car hauling pay more than company refrigerator otr? I gross about $1300 a week, $1000net. It's very steady pay here at knight. I got my cdl back in July 2015 (^_^). I live in the truck so that's why my pay is so steady. I don't know what united road drivers pay is. The only thing I got to go on is the banner on there site that says drivers average $50k/yr. But I have $50k/yr here to so I'm getting i'll make the same money?

Does anyone know there pay at united road for new drivers?? Any pay stubs? Anything??? INFO?? Please o_O

Typically brand new car haulers will make what you are making now. Experienced carhaulers make $2,000 a week or better. You will earn every cent at first but if you don't mind working hard I think it is much better than OTR. I have heard that United Road keeps you out 2 weeks, but you will stay in a hotel every night instead of a truck. Some locations may get you home weekly. If you don't like United Road you could get your experience and then move up to a carhaul company that will get you home every couple days.

In my single days there were usually girls at the restaurant bar near the hotel. I didn't stay at the same hotels all the time for no reason. Most carhaulers don't sleep in a truck.

Car-hauling is gonna be WAY more frustrating than Reefer work.

Trying to figure out how to do this without one single scratch is the frustrating part until you know what you are doing. With the proper training and work ethic, some people can do it, and eventually do it like its nothing. This is a basic load, there are way more difficult loads than this.

With you living in Chicago, I would apply with Cassens. Take the United Road job until Cassens calls to get a jump start on the training, but Cassens will be better benefits and retirement.
