For some determined people who are trying to make a change and better themselves, they will go as far as possible. One really cannot blame them.

Did your friend accept the job at Carolina Cargo?
Whatever decision he made, I do wish him the best of luck.

Tell your friend to try PI&I Motor Express. They hire guys right out of prison also.
Same with New Image Logistics in Mount Dora, FLMidwestResident Thanks this. -
SADLY and UNFORTUNATELY, people like your old boss are far and few in between.

I see nothing wrong with Carolina cargo, they might be unethical but pretty much all mega carriers and most companies are as well.
Remember, you do the crime, you do the time.
If you owned a trucking company would you hire a felon fresh out of prison? I personally wouldn't, even if my insurance company allowed it. -
^^ to me, the difference is this . . . CC puts their dime on a line for people that WANT to better themselves, as where the "megas" throw their dimes around (into wishing wells, perhaps?) for people that have NO CLUE what they want, still eating off a silver spoon at home, and often quit prematurely.
True, CC should pay a "wee bit" more, but ... eventually, they do. How much do THEY put out, trusting people in their $XXX,000 rig, plus the cargo???? Research it.
To me, No diff than the megas, teaming people "cheapo" .. and one or both fail. Abandonment is common amongst those big boys. I wish I knew how to find out how much CC has had this issue, but no clue. Maybe @Chinatown ?
No real story why I'm sticking up for these guys, except that guy a year ago. Humility in its infancy. Never forget the day, and the gratitude.
I think second-chance companies deserve respect, as well as the ex-offenders. We pay the meals and hot-cots until they DO get out, and get to work! Give people a chance. We don't know their stories, nor do they know ours.
Anymore, is anyone "perfect" out there?!?!?Pintlehook, MidwestResident and Chinatown Thank this. -
Thats what I say nobody is perfect. To many angels out there driving truck huh

Well i spoke with my friend and somehow with all his felonies and still being in papers he was given a #### at tyson, i just spoke with him last night. He is in orientation now finishs toda then heads out with his trainer tommorow. He is getting alot better terms with tyson vs cc. He is at 400 a week for training, then once solo he is at .39 a mile. So not to bad for his situation at all.
chopper103in and pattyj Thank this. -
I wish your friend success in this industry.Nice to see he shopped around rather then taking the first company that accepts him.Of course people deserve second chances depending the nature of his crime, but they also need to be making money as well as getting the exp otherwise what's the point driving trk. Most the drivers at C.C probably do have crimes and most have probably quit long before they got their record clear because they didn't make any money.chopper103in Thanks this.
