Boredom from living overseas after a few years. I can only deal with the trucker lifestyle for no longer than 5 months at a time, as it really involves sacrifice for the meager pay. Plus I always wanted to try it out. Will go back to it in a month or so.

Small country town of Tennessee to:
U.S. Navy
Trucking
Own home in Las Vegas & Beijing; travel back and forth.
Train trips.
Just within the past month spent time in San Jose,CA and Las Vegas,NV and Nashville,TN and heading to China in couple of weeks.

When I was 19 mgrandpa called me a vagabond fivured I might as well well own it. Now I do regional home every night because of the wife. But one day ill be in my own tractor rolling for months at a time again.

TV series "Movin On" with Claude Akins. It came on just after i got out of the Navy and looked like the thing to do.

Don't forget "BJ and The Bear". I remember growing up when trucking almost had a mystique and dare I say glamor to it. Now its becoming the job choice for layed off America.reverber8, goin2fast10 and Straight Stacks Thank this.
