It's amazing how much of every day life depends on what you guys and gals do, but it is also a difficult job, so I'm curious: what made you want to start driving? :)

Boredom from living overseas after a few years. I can only deal with the trucker lifestyle for no longer than 5 months at a time, as it really involves sacrifice for the meager pay. Plus I always wanted to try it out. Will go back to it in a month or so.

Mine is just as strong now as in the beginning; teen years.
Small country town of Tennessee to:
    U.S. Navy
    Trucking
Own home in Las Vegas & Beijing; travel back and forth.
    Train trips.
Just within the past month spent time in San Jose,CA and Las Vegas,NV and Nashville,TN and heading to China in couple of weeks.
Wife is 30 years younger than me so she loves my wanderlust because she goes with me.

TV series "Movin On" with Claude Akins. It came on just after i got out of the Navy and looked like the thing to do.
Then trucking deregulation came in 1980 and it's been downhill ever since.

Don't forget "BJ and The Bear". I remember growing up when trucking almost had a mystique and dare I say glamor to it. Now its becoming the job choice for layed off America.
